“When Insects Ruled The Land”

​Though the largest of the giant weta’s live in the deepest of caves, there was a time when they stalked the lands as kings. Like the Tuatara, the weta are one of the elder creatures, though they did not share their craft of magic, being primarily wild by nature.

​When the Taniwha arrived, the creatures carried out terrible magic on the weta, creating abnormally strong and monstrous weta’s.

The insects began to seek protection in deep caves and, often when the taniwha would stray into their domains, the insects would seek retribution by turning on them.
